Privacy Policy

This Policy explains what Agent Notifier ("the App") and this website collect and process. The short version: the App collects nothing and makes no network connections. Everything happens on your Mac. The data controller for anything relating to this website and support requests is Forinset OÜ (Estonia). Questions: agentnotifier.support@forinset.com.

At a glance — the app: No accounts. No analytics. No telemetry. No crash reporting. No ads. No update checks. No servers. The App never transmits anything off your device. (The website uses privacy-friendly, consent-based analytics — see “This Website” below.)

1. Information We Collect: None

Agent Notifier does not collect personal data. There are no accounts and no sign-in. We do not run analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or advertising of any kind inside the App. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

2. No Network, No Servers

The App makes no network connections. It has no servers to talk to. Nothing you do in Agent Notifier — your settings, the events it receives from your agents, the alerts it plays — is ever transmitted off your device. Because there is no transmission, there is nothing for us to receive, store, or share.

3. Local Data Only (Stays on Your Mac)

Everything the App uses lives on your own machine:

App settings: Your preferences (sounds, spoken phrases, voices, banner and reminder options, which events are enabled) are stored locally at ~/Library/Application Support/AgentNotifier/settings.json.
Agent hook configuration: To alert you, the App installs "hooks" into your AI coding agent's own configuration files — for example ~/.claude/settings.json, ~/.cursor/hooks.json, and ~/.codex/config.toml. Before changing any of these, the App writes a timestamped backup of the original file. Uninstalling the hooks is surgical: the App removes only the entries it added, leaving the rest of your config intact.
Agent events: When an agent changes state, it delivers an event to the App locally through a private agentnotifier:// URL. That event may include the working directory, a session identifier, and the agent's last message. This information is used only to show your notification banner and to populate a short in-memory "Recent" list (the last 10 events), which is cleared when you quit the App. It is not written to disk as a history log and never leaves your Mac.

4. Permissions

Agent Notifier asks for as little as possible, and what it asks for is optional:

Notifications (optional): macOS notification permission lets the App show banners. Sound and spoken (text-to-speech) alerts work even without it.
Launch at Login (optional): You can choose to have the App start automatically when you log in.
No Accessibility or Input Monitoring: The App does not read your keystrokes and does not request Accessibility or Input Monitoring permissions.

Because the App must write your agent configuration files (which live outside any sandbox container), it is not sandboxed. It is distributed as a direct download, signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, rather than through the Mac App Store.

5. Third-Party Sharing

None. The App has no third-party SDKs for analytics or advertising, transmits nothing, and therefore shares nothing with anyone.

6. Children's Privacy

Agent Notifier collects no personal data from anyone, including children. It is a developer utility and is not directed to children under the age of 13.

7. This Website

To keep this Policy honest, here is what the website does — as distinct from the App. Unlike the App, the site makes a few third-party requests:

Google Fonts. The site loads fonts from Google's font CDN, so viewing it sends a request to Google (which, like any web request, exposes your IP address to that provider).
Google Analytics 4 (Consent Mode v2). We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site traffic. By default it runs in a cookieless mode — anonymous, aggregated measurement with no tracking cookies. Only if you choose Accept in the cookie banner do we enable cookie-based analytics; Decline keeps it cookieless. We never enable advertising or personalization signals. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage so we don't ask again.

These apply to the website only. The App itself still makes no network connections and contains no analytics, telemetry, or tracking of any kind.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time; the "Effective Date" above will reflect any change. Because the App collects nothing, updates will typically be clarifications rather than changes to data practices.
